Description

This samurai tachi katana is forged by hand using 1060 high carbon steel, carefully heated and quenched to bring out the blade’s strength and resilience. The steel is folded and shaped to form a sharp edge and a distinctive wave-like hamon pattern along the blade, a hallmark of traditional Japanese swordsmithing. This blade is full tang, meaning the steel runs the full length of the handle, providing balance and durability in combat. The handle is crafted from wood and wrapped in genuine white stingray skin, known as samegawa, which offers a textured grip beneath the black ito cord wrapping, tied in the classic Japanese style for both function and aesthetics. The tsuba, or handguard, along with other fittings, are cast from zinc alloy and brass, featuring floral motifs that reflect the artistry and symbolism found in samurai culture. The accompanying wooden scabbard is finished with a metallic red lacquer and bound with a polyester cord, secured by matching metal fittings, designed to protect the blade and allow it to be carried with ease. A black dust cover is provided to shield the sword from moisture and dust when stored.
