Description
This katana is forged by hand using 1045 high carbon steel, a material known for its balance of hardness and flexibility, qualities essential to a blade that must hold an edge while withstanding impact. The blade is sharpened and polished to reveal a traditional hamon, the wavy temper line that appears during differential heat treatment, a hallmark of Japanese swordsmithing. From tip to hilt, a delicate floral design is etched, blending both function and artistry. The blade is full tang, meaning the steel extends through the handle, providing strength and durability in combat. The handle is wrapped in black faux ray skin leather, known as samegawa, overlaid with a brown polyester cord tied in the traditional tsukamaki style, offering a secure grip. The tsuba, or hand guard, is crafted from zinc alloy with a gold-toned finish and features an etched white pattern resembling tiger stripes, adding both protection and aesthetic appeal. The matching scabbard, or saya, is finished in black lacquer and decorated with a carved floral motif highlighted by gold inlay, protecting the blade when not in use. A black dust cover accompanies the sword to shield it from moisture and dust, preserving its condition.
