Description
This katana is forged by hand using 1045 high carbon steel, a material prized for its balance of hardness and flexibility, essential qualities for a blade meant to withstand the rigors of combat. The blade is sharpened and polished to reveal a traditional hamon, the distinctive wave-like pattern that forms during differential heat treatment, a technique that hardens the edge while maintaining a resilient spine. The sword features a full tang construction, meaning the steel extends through the handle, providing strength and durability in every strike.
The handle is crafted from wood and wrapped in black faux ray skin leather, overlaid with beige-toned polyester cord in the traditional Japanese tsuka-maki style. This wrapping not only offers a secure grip but also pays homage to centuries-old samurai sword-making traditions. The tsuba (hand guard) and other fittings are fashioned from zinc alloy and brass, shaped into a dragon motif,a symbol of power and protection in East Asian culture.
The katana comes with a wooden scabbard finished in black lacquer, adorned with an ornate dragon design achieved through a water-transfer printing technique, blending artistry with practicality. A black dust cover accompanies the sword to shield it from moisture and dust when stored.
