This pendant is shaped using the sand casting method, where molten antiqued nickel is poured into a finely detailed mold to capture the fierce visage of Medusa. Measuring 1-3/8″ across, the piece holds the solid weight and textured feel that only metal forged through fire and earth can provide. The leather thong pairs naturally with the rugged metal, offering a contrast that would have suited the wearers of ancient times. Medusa’s head, with its writhing serpentine locks, was commonly worn as a protective talisman, believed to ward off evil and petrify foes.

Fun fact: In Greek mythology, the image of Medusa served not only as protection but also as a stark reminder of the gods’ power and wrath, making such pendants both a shield and a symbol for those who carried them.
