Description
In the era often called the Dark Ages, smiths advanced their craft by forging swords that balanced strength and reliability. This slashing sword represents the kind favored by Viking warriors, skilled in close combat. The blade is forged from high-carbon steel and features an extra-wide fuller running the full length, a practical design that lightens the blade while maintaining its strength and balance. The handle, carved from sturdy wood, is sized to fit the grip of a seasoned fighter, while the pommel and guard are finished with an antique copper patina, offering protection and a rugged, functional appearance. The tang is peened securely to the pommel, ensuring the blade and handle remain one even under the stress of battle. Alongside the sword is a leather scabbard and shoulder baldric, made to withstand the hardships of travel and combat.
Sharpening can be done upon request, and the sword may be personalized with up to three initials for those wishing to mark their weapon.
Fun fact: Many Viking swords uncovered on the island of Gotland bear inscriptions and decorations, revealing that these weapons served not only as tools of war but also as important symbols of status and identity among their owners.
