Description
This giant Medieval padlock is forged from wrought iron, shaped and assembled by hand using traditional blacksmithing techniques. The iron body is thick and sturdy, designed to withstand attempts at forced entry. It features a large, solid shackle operated by a matched set of iron keys, each carefully filed to engage the internal wards and bolt mechanism. Attached to the lock is a heavy brass plate that swivels to cover the keyhole when the lock is closed, protecting it from dirt and tampering.
Dimensions: 7 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ x 1 3/8″ / Weight: 4 lbs
Fun fact: In medieval times, padlocks of this size and design were often used to secure gates, chests, and storerooms, with the brass plate serving as an early form of protection against lock picking and weather damage.
