Here we have a reproduction of a rare German WWII anti-personnel mine, notable for its all-wood construction. Made from plywood, this rectangular box contained roughly 200 grams of explosive material. Its design is straightforward: a hinged wooden lid served as the pressure plate, and stepping on it forced a detonator pin through a side hole, triggering the explosion. When assembled, the mine weighed just over a pound, making it easy to carry and conceal in the field. The choice of wood was intentional, metal detectors of the era would often miss such devices, complicating enemy efforts to clear minefields. This replica is empty, without any explosive or firing components, and includes stamped markings replicating the Waffenamt inspection and manufacturer codes to mirror authentic wartime details. Display only: no explosive function.

Fun fact: The German Schützenmine 42 (S-Mine 42) was actually an anti-tank mine with a metal casing and pressure plate, quite different from these wooden anti-personnel mines designed to evade detection by early mine detectors.
