Circa 1600
This light cut-and-thrust rapier embodies the fighting style favored by duelists and soldiers at the dawn of the 17th century. Crafted for swift, precise movements in close quarters, it balances offense and defense. The all-steel basket hilt offers sturdy protection for the hand without sacrificing wrist mobility, a crucial feature when parrying or delivering rapid thrusts. The steel pommel, shaped in line with period designs, helps balance the blade and firmly anchors the grip. Wrapped in genuine black rayskin, the handle provides a textured surface that resists slipping, even when sweat or blood makes the grip slick. A matching scabbard was made to carry the sword safely and quietly.
Note: This piece was a unique sample and never entered full production.
