Description
This longsword features a complex hilt design that offers distinct advantages in blade engagement. The additional rings and extended crossguard not only provide enhanced protection for the hands and forearms, but also enable skilled swordsmen to catch, bind, and control an opponent’s blade with greater precision. This design expands the range of offensive and defensive techniques available during combat.
The blade is forged from high carbon steel, with deliberately thickened edges to withstand the rigors of repeated contact, making it suitable for both stage combat and sportive fencing. It is firmly seated in the hilt to ensure stability during intense use. The crossguard and pommel are crafted from blued steel, lending both durability and a distinctive dark finish. The grip is carved from hardwood and polished smooth to provide a comfortable, secure hold.
Accompanying the sword is a wooden scabbard wrapped in leather, reinforced with blued steel fittings to protect the blade when sheathed. The black felt tab at the base of the crossguard is removable, a practical feature allowing for customization or maintenance.
Fun fact: The twisted wood grip seen on some German longswords not only offers a unique aesthetic but also improves grip by naturally guiding the fingers into a more secure hold during vigorous use.
