This set of rerebrace, vambrace, and couter is forged to guard both the upper and lower arm, with the pieces articulated at the elbow couter. This join allows the wearer to bend the arm while keeping it shielded from strikes. The inside edges of the right and left pieces remain open, making room for a variety of arm sizes and permitting slight lateral movement to ease wear during combat or travel. Crafted from 18 gauge steel, these plates are shaped and hardened in the tradition of late medieval German armorers, meant to be worn alongside a German Gothic cuirass for a unified defensive ensemble.
A fun fact: German Gothic arm armor often features sharp ridges and pointed edges, not only to catch the eye but also to channel blows away from the limb, reducing the force of impact in battle.
