Description

This Royal Sword of Edward of Woodstock, known as the Black Prince, is forged with a blade of fully tempered AISI 440 stainless steel. The blade features a fuller,a long groove running down its length, which serves to reduce weight while maintaining the blade’s rigidity and strength. Along the blade, the inscription Eduardo de Woodstock is etched, marking its connection to the noble figure it represents. The grip is crafted from a Zamak alloy and wrapped in blue suede wire, offering a secure and comfortable hold much like the leather-wrapped hilts used by medieval swordsmen. The crossguard is cast metal, decorated with engraved medieval motifs and finished in an antiqued silver plating that complements the wheel pommel and accompanying fittings. The pommel is shaped into a detailed three-dimensional animal head, a symbolic design often used in the period to convey strength and ward off evil.

Note: This sword is intended for decorative display, suitable for hanging on walls or as part of costume attire.

Fun fact: Edward of Woodstock, the Black Prince, was famed for leading the English to victory at the Battle of Poitiers in 1356, where he captured the French King John II,a feat that greatly enhanced his reputation as a warrior prince.
