Description

While often seen in hunting, this style of barbed arrowhead was a frequent companion on the battlefield during the 14th century, notably at clashes like the Battle of Poitiers in 1356. Each arrowhead is hand-forged from darkened steel, carefully shaped to pierce armor and flesh alike. The barbs along the edges are made to catch and hold fast within the target, making removal a painful and difficult task. These arrowheads are sized to fit a standard 5/16” arrow shaft, a common dimension among archers of the time. Offered in sets of five, they reveal much about the practical demands and smithing skills behind medieval warfare.

  • Measures 2-3/4” X 1” each

Fun fact: Curved broad arrowheads like these were sometimes crafted so the barbs would twist upon impact, causing wounds that were not only deep but also difficult to treat, earning them a fearsome reputation among knights and foot soldiers alike.
