Description
This 12th Century Crusader Pot Helmet is forged from 16 gauge mild steel, shaped and riveted to form a sturdy and reliable piece of armor. The narrow eye slits are designed to shield the wearer’s eyes while allowing clear vision on the battlefield. The face guard extends below the chin, pierced with two Templar cross-shaped vents to provide ventilation without sacrificing protection. Inside, the helmet is fitted with a padded cotton suspension liner, held in place by a leather lace that can be tightened or loosened to fit the wearer’s head comfortably. The leather chinstrap, secured with a brass buckle, ensures the helmet stays firmly in place during combat or movement.
This type of helmet was common among Crusader knights, offering a balance of protection and visibility essential for the brutal clashes of the era. The pot helmet’s simple yet effective design reflects the practical demands of medieval warfare, where every piece of armor had to withstand the rigors of battle while allowing the knight to fight effectively.
