The long series of campaigns between England and France from 1337 to 1453, known collectively as the Hundred Years War (though it actually lasted around 116 years), stemmed from tangled disputes over lands held by the English crown in France, French support for the Scots against England, and conflicts over the wool trade essential to English and Flemish economies. The war ignited when Edward III of England asserted his claim to the French throne through his mother, Isabella, daughter of King Philip IV of France. This particular sword takes its name from the Battle of Crécy in 1346, where English forces won a decisive victory, largely thanks to their skilled longbowmen and disciplined infantry formations.
This sword is forged with a steel pommel and crossguard, components essential for balance and hand protection. The grip is made from seasoned wood, tightly wrapped in leather to ensure a steady hold during combat. The blade is carefully tempered to achieve the right balance between flexibility and hardness, allowing it to absorb shocks without breaking. The leather scabbard protects the blade when not in use and permits quick drawing in the thick of battle.

Fun fact: The Crécy longsword was often wielded alongside the English longbow, a pairing that helped redefine medieval warfare by combining ranged and close combat tactics effectively.
