This Confederate Cavalry Officer Saber carries the marks of traditional craftsmanship, starting with a blade hand-forged from high carbon steel. The steel is carefully shaped and heat-treated to hold a sharp edge while maintaining the flexibility needed in cavalry combat. Acid etching reveals the “C.S.A.” initials on the blade, a subtle yet proud symbol of its origin. The guard and pommel are cast from solid brass, providing both protection for the hand and balance to the weapon’s weight. The wooden grip is wrapped tightly in leather and secured with brass wire, ensuring a firm hold even during the chaos of battle. Its matching scabbard is constructed from blued steel, treated to resist rust and wear, and fitted with brass throats, mounts, rings, and drag to protect the blade and facilitate carrying on horseback.
