Description

Charlemagne, often called Charles the Great, was King of the Franks and later Emperor of the Western Roman Empire in the late 8th and early 9th centuries. Born around 742 AD, he united a patchwork of Frankish tribes from the Rhine region under his rule. A skilled commander and ruler, Charlemagne’s military campaigns and governance helped shape the political map of medieval Europe.

This Limited Edition Sword of Emperor Charlemagne draws inspiration from the coronation sword known as “Joyeuse,” traditionally associated with French kings and linked by legend to Charlemagne himself. The original Joyeuse, now kept in the Louvre Museum, likely dates from the 12th or 13th century, though its exact origins remain a subject of debate. Despite this, the sword’s symbolism as a mark of royal authority has endured through the centuries.

The hilt of this replica is plated with 24-karat gold and silver, featuring figures cast in relief that echo the style of medieval European metalwork. The grip is wrapped in leather, offering a firm hold reminiscent of the weapons carried by knights and warriors of the time. The blade is etched with 24-karat gold designs, illustrating scenes and motifs that reflect the grandeur and artistry of the medieval period. This sword is crafted for display, complete with a wall plaque and a certificate of authenticity, each piece bearing its own unique number within a limited run of 1500 worldwide.

For decorative purposes only. Designed for wall display, collections, or costume use.

Fun fact: The name “Joyeuse” is said to mean “joyful,” and legend tells that Charlemagne’s sword could change colors thirty times a day, mirroring the ever-changing tides of battle.
