Description
The Mauser C-96, known by its unmistakable broomhandle grip, was a pistol that saw service with various military forces, including U.S. officers in the Philippines. It was also carried by prominent figures such as Winston Churchill and T. E. Lawrence. This shoulder holster replicates the model issued to Chinese nationalist troops during their resistance against Japanese invasion in World War II. Made from robust top grain leather, the holster includes a broad strap fitted with bullet loops for swift access to individual rounds and a pouch designed to hold stripper clips, keeping ammunition close at hand in the heat of battle. The design was born out of necessity, balancing the need for durability with practical ammunition storage to complement the rapid-fire nature of the C-96 pistol.
Fun fact: The Mauser C-96’s broomhandle grip not only gave it a distinctive look but also made the shoulder holster crucial for distributing the pistol’s weight, allowing officers to carry it comfortably during long missions where both agility and firepower were essential.
