Description
Though the clash occurred mainly on Breed’s Hill, the fight is forever known as the “Battle of Bunker Hill”,one of the earliest and fiercest battles faced by the Continental Army during the American Revolution. This sword mirrors the style and purpose of military blades from that era. It features a blade forged from high carbon steel, which holds a sharp edge well. A single fuller runs along the length of the blade, serving to lighten it without weakening the steel, allowing a soldier to wield it with greater speed and control amid the chaos of battle. The guard and pommel are cast from solid brass, chosen not only for its durability but also to help balance the blade for better handling. The leather scabbard, reinforced with brass mounts, was designed to protect the blade while securely fastened to a soldier’s belt or saddle. This replica reflects the practical design and craftsmanship of the swords carried by officers and enlisted men during those critical moments in history.
- Blade length: 24″ long
Fun fact: The Bunker Hill sword’s design marks a shift from European military sword styles toward more practical, locally made weapons, highlighting the ingenuity and adaptability of the Revolution’s early fighters.
