Revered among the gods for his radiant presence and gentle nature, Baldur was said to bring joy and light to all in Asgard,except for Loki, whose envy set the stage for tragedy. The sagas tell of Baldur’s death as a sorrowful omen, signaling the coming of Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods.
This Viking sword pays homage to Baldur’s legacy, honoring the often overshadowed yet noble siblings of the Norse legends. The grip, wrapped in leather and engraved with three runes, embodies the qualities most associated with the god. The rune for courage reflects the meaning behind Baldur’s name, often interpreted as “bold.” The rune of protection recalls Frigg’s plea to all things to spare her son,save for the mistletoe, the only exception.
