Description

When you want to stand out from your opponents during reenactment and SCA combat, you choose a more nontraditional styling, like that which is offered by the Bellows Face Sallet Helmet. Throughout the second half of the 15th century, the sallet or salade went through many changes, but always kept the close fit to the front and sides of the head.

This Italian style sallet is rounder, complementing the armor they wore during this time as well. At the back of the neck you find short, rounded tails and in the front there is an extended ?bellows? style visor, which was a later development in the period. Our example is based on a transitional piece worn in the 16th century between the sallet and Maximilian-style close-helm, dated around 1490.

Crafted from heavy duty 14-gauge steel, it is perfect for SCA combat and reenactment as it features leather lining and a chinstrap for comfort. Weight 6.5lbs
