Description
Historically, gauntlets were an essential part of a soldier’s or knight’s armor, protecting the hands and forearms , areas especially exposed during close combat. These Gothic-style gauntlets are crafted from 18-gauge steel plate, carefully shaped and riveted to form overlapping lames that offer solid protection while allowing the wearer to move their fingers and wrists freely. The steel has been polished and oiled to help resist rust and give a smooth finish.
Each gauntlet covers the back of the fingers, the hands, wrists, and extends well over the lower forearm. Inside, a pair of black suede gloves in size large provide comfort and additional protection. On top of these gloves, patches of red leather are hand-stitched, adding an authentic touch reminiscent of the decorative elements knights might have worn to signify allegiance or rank.
The gauntlets are fastened with genuine leather straps, securing them snugly without sacrificing flexibility. This combination of materials and construction methods reflects the balance medieval armorers sought between defense and dexterity, allowing knights to wield weapons effectively while shielding their vulnerable hands.
